Sending Merry Christmas Wishes

Hello! Here we are one week before Christmas, are you ready? It's time to remind you of The Flower Challenge #87 where we are still making cards that use gold. I've been wrapping Christmas gifts, and that theme carried over on today's card.

An embossed white panel serves as the package wrapped in gold ribbon and adorned with a red poinsettia. I added shading with darker red ink to the blooms (Waffle Flower.)  The foliage is cut from SSS Velvet card stock which I love for it's softness. You just want to touch it!
Our challenge continues through this month. I hope you will pay a visit to our blog and join in with your own creations. If you are celebrating Christmas, may it bring you much joy!

Winter Wonderland for Christmas

It's a bright sunny day today, but in my craft room I'm dreaming of snowy woodland scenes. Inspired by the amazing work of Jill Foster, I've been trying some watercoloring on my Christmas cards this year using Penny Black supplies. A quick post today to show you how it's going.

For my first card, I CASED the card that's on the back of the stamp packaging. The stamps are individual parts of a scene, and you can combine them in many different ways to arrange your composition. Masking makes even more options possible and adds depth.

For the second card, I created my own arrangement for the scene. I added the snowy hills with card stock and used Stickles and white spatters to enhance the snow and tall pine.

The coloring was done with Distress Ink re-inkers with some touch ups from markers. For the berries I used Crystal Effects and added a die cut bow to the leaves.

I appreciate you checking in with me today and hope all things are going well for you. Big hugs and happy wishes.

Vintage Postcard Wishes

Welcome to my blog on this Monday morning.
Here we are almost a week in to December and I can't quite figure out how that happened. It seems the holidays come more quickly every year!

We are beginning a new theme at The Flower Challenge and we're featuring cards using gold for this month.

I love gold accents and this time I combined them with a vintage style card for Christmas using Penny Black supplies.

Inking in light brown I stamped the Vintage Postcard Cling stamp adding some sponging to distress the panel. The poinsettias were watercolored using Distress Ink re-inkers. The gold snowflakes are a new product called Stick & Shine. They are a super easy way to foil. I only wish you could see the bright shimmer they add. This card was hard to photograph. IRL all 5 snowflakes are bright gold.

The spatters of white acrylic ink are the final touch. I hope that you will join us at The Flower Challenge, it's easy to play along! I'm adding this to Time Out Challenges, The Paper Players, SSSWednesday Challenge, and Penny Black Saturday Challenge.

Christmas Memories for Color Hues

`Happy Friday morning to you, my crafting friends. How are things going for you?

It's beginning to look like Christmas at our house! The shopping is done, the decorations are being put in place for the festive celebration of my favorite holiday. I love to think of family and one of the best memories I have from holidays past is going ice skating. Just a bit of nostalgia for you with today's card. Hope you like it!

The lovely Let's Skate die is pretty enough to feature on it's own.

It was was cut twice, once from SSS Pawsitively Velvet Snow White  card stock and once from Silver Glitter paper. I used black card stock behind the eyelets and added shading with a gray marker to create a bit of a scuffed up look. I love the texture and softness of the velvet paper! I also placed the sentiment strips a bit off center. On purpose. I thought that looked best with the skewed angle of the skates.

Our new challenge at Color Hues is for pink and silver. You will have the entire month to play along.

Please do join us at Color Hues! We hope our gallery will be filled with your delightful creations!

Mugs of Joy!

Are my American friends in the midst of Thanksgiving prep? My kitchen is filled with signs of delicious foods to come for the big feast. But I still found just a bit of time to stamp over the weekend.

The Penny Black stamps called Mugs of Joy are darling images of whimsical mug figurines filled with greenery that I just could not resist. They've been newly added to my collection and I just loved using one of the images for today's card.

The Paper Players are asking for CAS cards featuring TAGS and this was so fun to put together.

The snowman mug was stamped in light gray and colored with watercolors and markers on the stripes of the scarf. I combined these blue papers from my stash and added a white die cut with The Greetery's Coaster die.

I will share this also at NBUS. Thanks so much for your visit today, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Joyful Poinsettia Christmas

The calendar tells me there's only a week until Thanksgiving, and Christmas is just around the corner! At Color Hues we are inviting you to bring out red and metallic gold to make your cards over the next two weeks. Christmas or not, these colors are elegant and full of possibilities!

I am making every effort to dig into supplies from my stash and bring them out for inking! The Joyful Poinsettia stamp (W Plus9) makes a beautiful background. I stamped it in Versamark ink onto Real Red card stock, and heat embossed it with glittery gold embossing powder.
The sentiment is in gold foil and I adorned it with  three red gems.

Sparkle and elegance are my favorites for Christmas cards and this one has both. It's much more glittery IRL!

Can't wait to see what you will make with these colors. Please join us!

Reminder for The Flower Challenge: Yellow and Black

Take a break from holiday stamping and join us at The Flower Challenge! Just a reminder about the November challenge to create cards using yellow and black.

My first card for this challenge went heavy on the yellow hue. This time the black and white blooms take center stage with a bright pineapple yellow on the side.

Making a gatefold card with the opening off center gives this card a unique bit of interest.

Please be sure to check out the DT designs. I hope you'll be inspired to play along!

Radiant Red and Gold

Hi and happy Monday! Christmas cards are coming fast and furious at our house and I'm happy making the cards I look forward to all year! I have so many stamps for Christmas but today's card features a new-to-me rubber stamp by Penny Black called Radiant Red. You can never have too many poinsettia stamps!

I love to watercolor. I stamped with Toffee Crunch ink onto Canson Watercolor paper and used Distress Ink re-inkers to color the blooms. I've long been a fan of PB but Jill's recent videos about batch stamping have inspired me to try her system to avoid decision fatigue. In giving this a  try over the weekend, I found myself sitting to paint and work on this card (and others) in little bits of time between football games and home duties.

A simple card but dressed up with a beautiful sentiment, a border die and gold flat sequins. I'm playing at The Paper Players today

Sketchbook Bouquet for The Flower Challenge

Greetings to you, friends! It's a new challenge at The Flower Challenge where we make florals the main feature of our cards. This time, we've added a color option to use yellow, black and white.

I've been enjoying combining older supplies with  new products, so I pulled out the Sketchbook Bouquet stamps by Lori Craig. (Taylored Expressions.) The outline stamps include a die and a stencil. Although the lines are delicate, I thought they work perfectly with the bold color palette.

I stamped on white card stock with black ink and heat embossed with clear EP. Watercoloring with Scattered Straw and Squeezed Lemonade Distress inks, I also placed the mask over the bouquet and ink blended lightly around it to add highlights to the background. I really like yellow, so I went with it! Spatters of black ink with a damp brush are a go-to for me. I finished it off with a bit of ribbon.

Please check out the lovely DT samples. You have a month to play along. Hope that you will!

Blue Roses Birthday for Color Hues

Hello and welcome to a new month! That means a new challenge at Color Hues! Dear Julie B chose Light Blue and Purple for us to use. You know, I thought at first of snow flakes but I decided to go with - you guessed it - flowers.

It started with a gorgeous new-to-me shade of purple from Concord & 9th that I fell in love with. I usually avoid purple or use pastel tones but this time I went BOLD with the main panel.

I love the result! Pairing pale blue roses and a sentiment from The Greetery for the focal point, I added a layer of gold foil card stock for a bit of shine. Because these colors are so out of my wheelhouse, I really felt pleased when it was done. The 'challenge' is real, that's why we do them, right? It is how I began stamping and how I keep learning!

We hope you will check the DT samples and fill our gallery with this pretty color combo! Thanks for checking in.

Season to Sparkle with Kindness and Joy

Hello, I'm getting into the Christmas spirit! I'm happy to be here with a second card made just for the fun of playing in some new challenges. A new to me challenge, Christmas Craft Creations' theme is monochromatic cards. There were several entries that inspired me and a huge variety of color combos.

I loved the idea of using pink and purples, so I searched my DSP files and found the retired paper from SU that forms the background panel for my card.

The second challenge at 52 Christmas Countdown features one of my favorite techniques. Make a shaker card! My snowman image was stamped with Fig ink (Concord & 9th) onto white card stock and colored simply with Copic markers in rosy hues. A little ink blending around the snowman and a white snowy strip at the bottom help complete the scene.

The new-to-me stamp and die are called Kindness and Joy from Penny Black. You can never have too many snow-people stamps, right? The sentiment is from a lovely PB set called Jolly Snippets that has some of the cutest sayings in small sizes and varied fonts.

Thanks so much for your visit today, I'm beginning to feel back in crafty rhythm again!

Joyful Christmas

How are you doing? This fall weather has given us a cool spell but the last few days of warm weather have been fabulous!

I've been in a stamping slump lately. I have 4 cards a month to make for DT gigs, and I make them very far ahead to avoid last minute stress. Doing it that way means I have a couple days of spurts for cards needed, and then a week or two or three goes by with no stamping. I'm not sure if I am losing my mojo or losing interest but I intend to kick myself into action with some challenges just for fun this week.

Beginning with Just Us Girls where Nancy asks for a CAS card where we only use the center area of the card. She suggests that is easy and I agree, it was great to start with something simple.

My hexagon dies (WPlus9) were inked with wood grain and I added a die cut border. Stamping a sentiment from SSS directly to the panel, I added a stamped image from Merry Sprigs (The Greetery) and layered three of the die cuts for extra dimension. Three simple pearls adorn the sentiment.

I will keep the stamping going and the blogging a bit short. Thanks for coming by to take a look. Your comments always boost my spirits and are so welcome!

Pure Sunshine

Hello again, it's the middle of the day and the middle of the week! It seems I just loved the challenge at The Paper Players for a CAS design so I'm here with take 2 for the challenge.

I used Penny Black products and kept my coloring very simple with Copic markers. I was so inspired by the clean colors and black and white of the challenge prompt that I took my cues from that.

I could almost say that I whipped this card up in between steps of cooking dinner, lol! It was a nice change to have it come together quickly with basic supplies.

Hoping you're having some sunshine today, if not outside, then in your thoughts. Thanks for coming by!

Autumn Thanks

How about one more fall card? The Paper Players are asking for a clean and simple card with an autumn theme. I just happen to have one on hand, so I'm happy to share it today.

My supplies are listed below. This is my second card using Yellow and Kraft, the great combo that we have going at Color Hues! I made this one quickly  -  forgetting that I had already made my card with these colors in August. I posted that one yesterday. Boy do I feel sheepish for my forgetfulness! I am usually very organized. Of course if you saw my stamp space, you would think otherwise!

I will focus on the positive. I am colorful, creative and happy. Thankful to God for the day He has made. So glad you've come to visit!  Signing off....

With Sympathy for Color Hues

Greetings to you on this day! We have a new challenge at Color Hues where Hannelie has chosen Yellow and Kraft for our creations for the next two weeks. I needed a sympathy card,  deciding that these colors are soothing and just right for this season too.

I began with a white card base, and added a kraft panel. Stampin' Up! provided the lovely stamped images, die cuts, and sentiment. I've had this set for a long time but this is my first time using it. Now I won't wait so long until next time!

We hope you will join us and add your projects to our gallery. We can't wait to see what you will make! Thanks so much for your visit!
