Inspired By featuring The Greetery

It's Thursday! I hope you're excited about the new inspiration from the gang at the Inspired By Challenge

The theme of Tweet Messages was my cue to pull out the Robin & Wren Set from The Greetery which I love to use because it reminds me of the cheery bluebirds that come to our bird feeder year round.

The Wood Slices Dies and some florals stamped and die cut from the Merry Sprigs set rounded out the scene.

I have begun preparing stamped or colored and die cut images whenever I get a new set, and storing them with the set until I need them. This worked out really well, as all the items for this card were ready for me to place on the panel. Each image was stamped in layers with Distress Oxide Inks which I added with a sponge dauber.

I rounded the edges and placed it on the card front. The die cut Hello and sentiment are from WPlus9.  To tie in the black sentiment, I added Nuvo Drops in black.

That's it for me today. Thanks so much for taking time to visit!

Playing with Paper

More just for fun stamping and today I'm playing with Paper! Hi, hope you feel like doing some creating today!

I love challenging myself to do something that's not normally in my zone. Using the sweet Special Delivery Papers Pad and combining three patterns was my task.

I LOVE the papers from Waffle Flower! Although they have some cute new ones I must-use-what-I have, HA!

I paired the super cute fox and cat from Be Her for the focal point actually stamping the images directly on the pale blue DSP.  The clouds fade into the background of their faces. I added some shading and details with markers. I think maybe my grands when they receive this will see a resemblance to their Mimi and Papa. You think?

My sketch is inspired by the terrific team at The Paper Players. I appreciate you coming by today! I know so many of you are having snow and awful weather. Stay warm and well!

Happy Thoughts

Hi there!

I saw the sketch at Freshly Made and knew that I just had to play along, so here's a quick post to share.

It turns out the layout works perfectly with my brand new stamps and dies from Sugar Pea Designs called You're My Type. So fun to play with colors, polka-dotted paper and a terrific sketch!

I will also be entering this at
NBUS

See you next week, thanks for visiting.

Inspired By....Happy Mail

Sending you Happy Mail today!

Hello friends, I am glad you've stopped by. It's time for a new challenge at Inspired By! I've pulled out two sets both titled Happy Mail: one by Pretty Pink Posh, and one from Altenew. As you can see, the themed elements worked very well together.  The bluebird and mailbox were colored with Copics.

The circle image and hearts trio are from the Altenew set.

I just had to include silver metallic card stock for that image and the die cut oval (PTI) because of the pewter heart in the inspiration photo. I was also influenced to use the colors, hearts, gingham, and stitching for my card. Inside I'll write a thank you note!

Thank you for being so kind and thoughtful to keep up with my crafty pursuits. I love sharing them with you, hope you have a great day!

It's All About You with Colorado Craft Company

Hello, happy Tuesday! It was a happy day for me when my new stamps from the Colorado Craft Company arrived and I couldn't wait to use them for a special January birthday. These illustrations by Anita Jeram have taken the card-making world by storm! Such fun and adorable critters.

I combined the images from the Christmas Presents set and the sentiments from Birthday Wishing for today's card.

Stamping on watercolor card stock, these were colored using Zig markers and a damp paintbrush. Isn't that dog the cutest? You can almost feel his tail wag, lol.

I really love these sets and how easy they are to create with simply by adding color. You will be seeing them again! For today, I'm entering this at NBUS because the stamps are brand new - to me.

Thanks to you for visiting! See you soon.

Color Hues with Pinkfresh Studio

Hello there, friends! It's been a busy week on my blog and I'm hoping that you are enjoying it!

Today's challenge for Color Hues is to use Navy and Cream. I couldn't imagine any better neutral than gold, so I went with clean lines and elegance for my card.

The beautiful large spray from Pinkfresh studio Floral Notes makes a lovely statement on any card! Although designed to be used on a slimline base, I die cut the images and trimmed it with scissors to fit my A2 card panel.

The flowers were heat embossed with gold and placed over a navy strip of card stock. For the sentiment, I stamped in navy using words from The Greetery (Sketchbook Roses.)

I look forward to seeing your samples with these colors. Be sure to join us at Color Hues! Hope your day is going well!

Inspired By...another great challenge!

Hi there, I am so glad that you are back! I'm excited to announce my new DT spot on the Inspired By Challenge! I am honored to be invited to join the team of very talented stampers and look forward to the weekly challenges.

I've been just waiting to ink up this new to me background stamp from Pinkfresh Studio. I used dark green ink to stamp the outline, and colored the image with Zig markers and a paintbrush.

Today we're to be Inspired By...everything is a-bouquet.

I was inspired by the colors, the trailing leaves and the sketch for my project.

What will you be inspired to make? Be sure to head off to see the fabulous DT samples. Have a great day!

Botanical Birthday with The Greetery

 Good morning!

Just a quick post today! I had a special birthday card to finish and saw the great sketch at Freshly Made, so I am popping in to share it. Clean and simple works so well with the  Botanical Pine Boughs dies from The Greetery

I die cut them from watercolor paper. I've been using Aquarello Extra White Hot Pressed by Fabriano. I kept the die cut pieces in the paper and watercolored them using the 36 half pan set from Altenew. After they were dry I removed the pieces and assembled the boughs and pine cones. I can't get over how real they look this way from simply splashes of color.

Here's the great sketch.

Thanks so much for your visit today! I will be back tomorrow and Saturday so I look forward to seeing you again.

Mixed Media Stamping with W Plus 9

It's good to see you today!
I am beginning to dabble in another technique that has such possibilities I can't wait to try it again. I love mixed media because it gives me a chance to just play around with paper and ink.
For today's card,  I die cut three images to create my own stencil: a flower, one leaf and a pair of leaves using the Christmas Rose Bouquet stamps and dies from Wplus 9Design.

Using Bristol smooth card stock, I placed the large flower stencil and sponged inks with a dauber, blending colors for each bloom. Randomly adding images to create my own patterned background, I used WPlus9 inks: Last Leaf, Appletini, Wild Mango, V.I.Pink, Gala Red.  These inks are formatted to be colorfast when used with water so they are perfect for mixed media.

Next I added paint brush spatters with Distress Oxide Inks: Speckled Egg, Candied Apple, Mowed Lawn. When I was done I had ink spatters all over my work surface, (and probably on my face!) but I can't tell you how much fun I had making this. I was inspired to try this by Dawn Woleslagle and she has fabulous instruction videos!
I recently used this stamp for a Christmas card HERE. After all the wintry cards it felt really good to combine some springy colors! Hope you are doing well today.

Inspired By for Hero Arts

Aren't you glad we have ushered in the new year?
I'm still in wintry mode with one of my favorite snowman images and a new-to-me background stamp from Hero Arts. Stamping the Starry Night Background, I created a night sky by sponging Distress Oxide inks in Broken China, Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet on top.

I colored the snowman and filled in the sentiment with Copic markers.
You can see the layer of patterned paper behind the die cut frame in this close up.

The paper has subtle stripes and an ombre effect that I love! I added splatters of white gouache and a die cut snowflake or two to the focal panel. This card makes me happy! I hope it makes you smile too.

I will be laying very low this month. Meaning: staying at home. Stamping every day! I really appreciate you spending some of your moments here. Thank you!

I'm playing with the Hero Arts Stay Crafty Challenge where I was inspired by Debi's card

and
NBUS, Darnell's spot where we showcase our never-been-used-stuff! Also, the Paper Players are asking for us to use something new as well.

A New Year and a New Challenge at Color Hues

Welcome to a New Year and welcome to my blog. You're just in time for Color Hues Challenge #9 ! I know many have enjoyed a long break from card-making and stamping over the holidays. Jump back into the fun of our challenge to use red and gray for your project.

I needed a few birthday cards for January, so I thought these colors would be great, especially for a couple of the men on my list

Using a monochromatic background really allows the red to pop! I combined some dies from my stash with a scripty sentiment and created a scene. Beginning with Dove gray card stock, I stamped pine trees in the background and die cut a trail of stars along the top. White die cuts of the stars are popped up. The stag was cut from white card stock, sponged with a very pale gray ink, and then covered with a wash of Wink of Stella.

I hope you will check out the wonderful projects of our team, and play along!
