Life Has Been RUFF

Hi there!
I am a dog lover and I know many of you are as well. I had a great escape this week to my nearby crafts box store. What I liked best about the excursion was getting to meet, Bonnie, a delightful therapy dog. Her owner said their outing to the store was the first time out in months for the pretty canine who really needed to socialize. How well I could relate to that statement and my new furry friend.

You can only imagine how much I enjoyed coloring this doggy lineup and setting them into a simple scene. I did some masking with the stamped images to rearrange the pack, fussy cut then colored using Copics. The sky and grass were ink blended with Distress Oxide inks. ( Tumbled Glass, Cracked Pistachio and Lucky Clover.)

It felt good to make this card for a friend that has been going through the mill with health issues. The dog images are from Puppy Power (Waffle Flower Crafts) and the sentiments from Friends FURever (Honeybee Stamps.) I know I will get lots of use from these sets. The sentiment continues inside with "No bones about it... You are PAWsome!"

I am playing with Freshly Made Challenges who inspired me with this sketch this week.

I thought the differing heights of the pooches mimicked the vertical lines. A little bit.

That's all for me today! Hope to see you soon!

One Stitch at a Time: Quilted Summer

Hello, friends!
Hope those in the US are enjoying the long weekend.
I've been making up for my lack of posts this week, and had some time to play today. We've had lots of rain, so I played inside my craft room.

At Make It Monday, Lizzie invited us to create a card with embellishments above and below the sentiment.  Marcia inspired me with her very pretty card using the Quilted Summer set from Papertrey Ink so I set out to create a get well card with it.

I love the images with small patterns that coordinate with the set and quilt die, however I decided to highlight the florals. I did randomly tuck some of the quilted triangles behind the die cut flowers for a boost of color and layering. I stamped small flowers and added black centers and black stitch lines onto the panel. The pinwheels were stamped and "sparkled" with WOS. With all my elements, I grouped in threes arranging in triangles to keep the balance and suggest movement.

I just love the sentiments with this set, and used another one inside to complete the well wishes.
Thanks so much for taking time to visit my blog. Have a fantastic day!

Special Blog Hop for Dawn McVey

Hello and welcome to my blog!

A special blog hop sponsored by Papertrey Ink is underway for Dawn McVey, who has been a huge influence to many in the crafting world with her beautiful designs and joyful spirit. Dawn has undergone a small intestine transplant after suffering with medical difficulties for years. I invite you to visit the hop HERE to read Dawn's story.
I've loved following Dawn's blog for years and have been so inspired by her work and journey. Here's the get well card that I made for her using the stamp set that she designed called Floral Sketches

I stamped the design onto white card stock and afterwards die cut the word "prayers" from the panel and popped it up with foam tape.

You can see the depth it adds in this close up.

After glueing it down, I covered the sentiment die cut with lots of Wink of Stella and added an outline with the white gel pen to make the word stand out a bit more.

I kept my card clean and simple so that I could play along with my favorite challenge CTS #246.

I'm so glad you came by today, hope the day you're having is fabulous!
