November 2018 Blog Hop with Papertrey Ink

It's been a busy few days but I'm popping in to play along with the blog hop today. I didn't have much time but I got in the craft room for just a bit today to make my card.

I kept the style clean and crisp as that's what the inspiration photo suggested to me. I love the bold combo of lots of white with red and a touch of blue.

I used the following products from PTI:
Bitty Big Patterned paper in Pure Poppy, Bold Borders Yuletide Die, Sending Joy Stamp Set, Pure Poppy Ink.
The blue ink is Lakehouse from WPlus 9. I needed a clean blue with no hint of green so this was selected after trying a few other inks.

The Yuletide die is perfect for an elegant look, but I loved using it this time in a different way. Instead of a frame, I used it under my panel extending over it on the right side, giving me more room for the focal point and sentiments. I added a couple white die cut holly leaves and a tiny red bow.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I'm happy to have another card ready for mailing and it took effort to avoid sequins or other bling so it is flat for the post office. Having just mailed a bunch of cards I am sure I need this to become my habit!

Papertrey Ink July 2018 Bog Hop

Hello I'm so glad you've come by today.
It's a special day!

We were invited to create projects inspired by this colorful photo.

I was thrilled to pull out my Beach-y elements to create this card with underwater scenes. I combined Distress inks for the backgrounds, and combined Copic markers and  Distress Oxide Inks to color and stamp the images from white card stock.

Supplies from PTI include:
Salt Air: Flora, Fauna and dies, Sentiments, and Reef Builder Dies.

I kept the color palette similar to the photo, using softer shades of blues and red. Adding clear droplets to look like bubbles is the only embellishment.

I hope you'll visit the hop (CLICK HERE) to see more fabulous and fun ocean-themed projects.

Papertrey Ink March Blog Hop Challenge

Good day to you all!
I'm glad to be able to share my card made for the March Blog Hop 2018 at Papertrey Ink which takes place today. I've wanted to play all week long and I'm grateful to have found a bit of time to stamp over the weekend.
The hop always begins with a photo to inspire us. I loved the one for this month.

I was drawn to the cascades of pink blooms, an assortment of textures in the plate, old desk and the basket, and the warm homey feeling of all that blue.
It seemed cozy as a favorite quilt to me and inspired me to make my card with a country feel.

I began by stamping the roses from the new set Stitching Garden in layered inks on white card stock. I love the possibilities just waiting for me with these stamps!

These are beautiful in bold colors but I wanted to have a soft pink to contrast with the medium blue. I found that sometimes stamping a layer twice in the same color, or changing the order in which I stamped the layers gave different looks to the roses. My desk is sprinkled with an array of them!

I knew I only wanted to focus on those flowers for now, with added layering. I brought out blue card stocks, stamping them with Blueberry Sky ink, one with the woodgrain stamp, and the other with one of my favorite floral clusters.

I used die cuts to layer and embellish with the florals and a tag with a sentiment.  The tag was kind of an afterthought, but I liked adding brownish floss to put in another bit of texture similar to the basket.

This post is getting long, so I will be sure to list the supplies at the end.

Thank you so much for coming today and for your kind comments.

Special Blog Hop for Dawn McVey

Hello and welcome to my blog!

A special blog hop sponsored by Papertrey Ink is underway for Dawn McVey, who has been a huge influence to many in the crafting world with her beautiful designs and joyful spirit. Dawn has undergone a small intestine transplant after suffering with medical difficulties for years. I invite you to visit the hop HERE to read Dawn's story.
I've loved following Dawn's blog for years and have been so inspired by her work and journey. Here's the get well card that I made for her using the stamp set that she designed called Floral Sketches

I stamped the design onto white card stock and afterwards die cut the word "prayers" from the panel and popped it up with foam tape.

You can see the depth it adds in this close up.

After glueing it down, I covered the sentiment die cut with lots of Wink of Stella and added an outline with the white gel pen to make the word stand out a bit more.

I kept my card clean and simple so that I could play along with my favorite challenge CTS #246.

I'm so glad you came by today, hope the day you're having is fabulous!
