Welcome to Color Hues #37

Hello crafters, it's time for our mid-March throw down at Color Hues! Nancy has selected pale teal and yellow for our challenge. We can't wait to see what you will make using this combo.

I was stumped for awhile as I anticipate using lots of flowers in upcoming posts, so I wanted to come up with something else.

I love this  sweet set from Waffle Flower, and thought now might be the first time to ink up the Jars of Happiness stamps and dies for a whimsical spring greeting.

Stamping on Solar Neenah white card stock, I lightly colored the images with Zig markers, then die cut them. Adding a bold sentiment and striped paper helps the images make an impact.  Applying a strip of pale teal and embellishing with enamel dots, completes the project.

Using a brand new to me stamp set means I will be posting this at NBUS!
As always, you'll find a fabulous assortment of projects to inspire you at the Color Hues challenge blog. Hope you will join us!

Have a wonderful day!

Color Hues #19 Blue and Brown

Hi friends! I'm happy to turn the page on the calendar. Welcome to a new month, a new color challenge and my blog! I hope things are going well with you.

Can I tell you that using only two colors is always a challenge for me? I want to pull out ALL the colors. I find that being challenged makes me think outside the box and create cards in different styes, which I think is tons of fun! I learn a lot this way.

For instance, I've learned that the capybara, which lives predominantly in South America is the largest living rodent in the world, weighing in at 77 - 150 pounds?  I've traveled to South America but never ran into one of these guys! I've also learned that they can look CUTE - on cards!

Here's my take on blue and brown for a simple gender neutral birthday card. I did some masking, coloring with Copics and fussy cutting this critter for the tag. For the card base,  I used a stencil to add a few polka dots with Distress Oxide Inks.

Blue and brown work well together, and I'm sure the rest of the team will amaze you with their creative samples. Check them out and join us at Color Hues!

I appreciate your visit today, thanks!

Elegant Birthday

It's today! Happy Valentine's day to you! I've enjoyed sending more cards out than usual this week.  It's time to make just one more.
Today's card is for a special birthday using a really pretty color combo and supplies from The Greetery

I don't often use gray, but I love the soft gray with lavender. I embossed the gray panel in white and lightly stamped the script image on the white panel.

I was inspired today by The Color Throwdown and CAS(E) this Sketch.   Also playing at Seize the Birthday which encourages use of white space this week.

Thanks so much for you visit today. I hope you have a wonderful weekend shaping up for you.

Thinking of you Always

Hello and happy Monday, friends!
I don't know if I've ever mentioned that Monday is my favorite day of the week. Now that my husband and I are both retired, it hardly makes sense. But there is something about Monday being the day when things go back to whatever normal is after the weekend, that I still like!

It's an especially nice Monday when I have a card to share. I really like this one! Navy and pink is one of my favorite color combos.

My challenges certainly inspired this card, a CAS(E) this Sketch

and Color Throwdown entry.

Using stamps that although they have been around a long while they've seen little ink made this especially fun. Supplies are listed below.

I am wishing you every good thing for your Monday and every day. Thanks for visiting!

Enchanted Forest Christmas Wishes

It's rainy and cold here today. I'm cozy and Christmas card-making is now in full swing. Beginning with stamps I just loved last year but didn't get in time to use for Christmas, I used images from The Enchanted Forest set designed by Betsy Veldman.

I stamped the trees in shades of teal, apple green and purple and arranged them on a pinked edge die cut panel.
The snowflakes were stamped and I added glittered drops to the centers. I love this metallic paper but it doesn't show up well in the photo. Subtle beautiful shine and it is a lighter shade IRL.

I'm using the gorgeous colors from the Color challenge at The Paper Players. Thanks so much for joining me today!

Happy Mail With Love from The Greetery

Hi to my stamping friends! Hope your day is going well. I'm enjoying the sunshine and very cool temps we're having today by spending some time in the stamp studio.

You know how every once in a while you begin with a small idea for a card and as you make it the process unfolds into a result you really like? That's what happened today.

Betsy has done it again with her designs at The Greetery! With Love at Christmas stamps are designed for Christmas stationery. With a change of colors this set is perfect for any season. And who doesn't love happy mail? I adhered the little envie to the card front so that it can be removed and used again added to a gift bag or a lunchbox.

I thank Color Throwdown for the great combo featured this week. Check out the fabulous DT samples as well!

I stamped with PTI inks and added details to the images with colored pencils and a white gel pen. Hope you have a great day, I am happy that you came by.

Just for Fun: A Makeover

I hope your Saturday is in full swing and going well.
I got some time to stamp today. I kept thinking about yesterday's card (posted HERE). My photo made it look dark, and my mind read that as muddy. So I set out to make it over today. Just for fun!

Adding the white circular die cut, a white embossed sentiment, and using less leaves lightened up the overall look. Instead of using blended Oxide inks, which have muted chalky hues - I watercolored the leaves, using my Gansai Tambi paints. I also added a very few ink spatters to the card front.

I am MUCH more pleased with this one. Also, the photo. Thanks to the Color Throwdown for these great colors!

Thank you for visiting today. Tell me which card you like best? Gently, please.....

Distress Oxides in Autumn Shades

Hello, hi there!
I could hardly bring myself to craft for fall as we are having a drought and unprecedented heat wave right now. I'm not even able to think about Christmas cards and it's already October!

But I managed to craft as it's too hot to go outside! Fortunately I've seen some COOL alternative color combos for fall lately. Lavender leaves, anyone?

I did some Distress Oxide ink blending using lavender, purple, orange, and green on white Bristol Smooth card stock. Then I stamped leaves on the inked piece and embossed them in gold, and die cut them.

These were the colors at Color Throwdown for this week, I'm playing along. I did get a bit of green in there.

I ended with a few sequins, a banner-ed sentiment and random splashes of watercolor. I hope you have a wonderful day and I'm so glad that you came by!

Color Throwdown #562

Welcome to my blog today, I so appreciate your visit.
I got crafty and pulled out my Zig markers for today's card.

I have been so inspired by playing along with the Color Throwdown Challenge. I find sketch challenges to be easy but color challenges make me think a bit more.

I end up with not only different color combos that I would never try on my own, but often different style elements as well.

I die cut the card front diagonally, used foam to raise the two panels, and placed black card stock behind for a bold and graphic design.

The images are from Simon Says Stamps Look for the Rainbows and were heat embossed in black. Also entering this at the SSS Anything Goes Wednesday Challenge.

That's it for me today. Hope to see you back here soon!

Color Throwdown #556

Hey there! I'm super happy to be The Guest Star Stamper for the challenge at Color Throwdown today. The talented stampers in this group provide a new color combo and wonderful inspiration for using it each week. I love playing along! Here's this week's challenge.

I was completely taken with the soft nubby look of the fabric and embroidery on the pale green bag. I went looking for stamps to use and came up with an oldie but goodie set, Fresh Cut Florals and paired it up with the fresh new sentiments from Butterfly Mandala (both from WPlus9).

Adding a vertical strip of kraft paper adorned with gold stripes gave a hint of elegance. I carried this over by embossing the sentiment in gold and adding three dots with gold embossing at the bottom of the card. Just a bit of shimmer pen was added to the sentiment for sparkle.

I really enjoyed using an older set made fresh with newer elements. It feels good using what I have and giving the retro stamps some love. They will always be in style!

Thanks to the team at Color Throwdown for a great combo. Make sure to check their site to see the array of beautiful projects.

And lucky me, it's Anything Goes week so I can add this to the Retro Rubber Challenge. I got Fresh Cut Florals in 2013.
