Combining Texture for Make It Monday

Tuesday is my day to highlight products from Papertrey Ink, so I'm here to share my card for Make It Monday #331. Stephanie Gold provided a fabulous sample and video showing how to create mixed texture in the background. (see it HERE).

I loved the way she stamped leaves in gray and wanted to give that a try, since gray is not a color I use often. The leaves in curved patterns, almost like a flourish, from the Corner Adorner: June Mini Set made this easy to stamp along the left edge of the card, and carries over in the form of the berries and flowers on the main panel. Other PTI products include: Vintage Linens stamp set, and Soft Stone Ink.

More texture comes from the Stampin' Up! Hexagon Die that covers the whole card front to add tone on tone dimension.

I loved making this card, and I thank you for coming by my blog today. Sending happy hugs your way.

Star Studded Birthday

Hello, I hope you are having a great weekend!

It's a sunny day, I'm looking forward to being outdoors for awhile before the heat revs up.

I've had a little more fun in the stamp studio so I'm popping in with my card to share.

This was super easy after I saw the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch and decided to play along. It gave me a great opportunity to sort through my paper stash and that set the theme for this card.

I'm also playing along with the Seize the Birthday challenge which called for stripes. Add bright colors and a Vented Star die and my card is good to go. Hope you have enjoyed it!

Papertrey Ink July 2018 Bog Hop

Hello I'm so glad you've come by today.
It's a special day!

We were invited to create projects inspired by this colorful photo.

I was thrilled to pull out my Beach-y elements to create this card with underwater scenes. I combined Distress inks for the backgrounds, and combined Copic markers and  Distress Oxide Inks to color and stamp the images from white card stock.

Supplies from PTI include:
Salt Air: Flora, Fauna and dies, Sentiments, and Reef Builder Dies.

I kept the color palette similar to the photo, using softer shades of blues and red. Adding clear droplets to look like bubbles is the only embellishment.

I hope you'll visit the hop (CLICK HERE) to see more fabulous and fun ocean-themed projects.

What I love: Sweet Honey and Bears

Hello stamping friends, how goes it for you?
We've had a couple of rainy days and I've found some cozy time in the stamp studio.
Hope you don't mind if I share my Wednesday What I LOVE feature a day early.

I'm happy to share these darling itchy-pawed bears and their helpers from the Curious Friends stamps from W Plus 9 Designs. They are up to some antics today!

On Bristol Smooth card stock I blended a background using Distress Inks in Vintage Photo and Cracked Pistachio. For coloring, I chose my Zig markers, stamping the images and sentiments with black ink and heat embossing. I rounded out the scene with the tree boughs, scalloped circles and a few ink spatters.

I love the inside of this thank you card the best. It tells a story and has a happy ending. What's not to like about that?
Hee, hee, sweet and sappy. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Thanks for visiting my blog today, I hope you know how much it means to me!

Christmas Roses in July

Hello and happy Tuesday! How are things going for you? Summer mode means hot and humid days and not much getting done at my house.

I've had this card made for a couple of weeks and now is the time to share it with you.

I layered a scalloped border over a striped paper from my stash. The beautiful spray of flowers from the Christmas Rose Bouquet stamps by WPlus9 was die cut and colored with Copics.

I dotted drops of glue and added gold foil accents to the flower centers. The sentiment was also embossed in gold, and the "you" was die cut in white and gold glitter card stock.

I really enjoyed creating this card. I always hesitate to pick one style to describe my work, because for me variety is the spice of life! But I have to say that the clean and layered elegant style is one of my favorites. I love how this turned out.

Now if only my mojo would turn up. You know, I feel like stamping and it just doesn't happen.
I'm sure you know how that feels too. I am grateful for your visit, hope your day is wonderful!

Color Block Stencils Birthday

Hello!
Summer means stamping when I can. When a cold front hits North Carolina and the humidity disappears for a few days, it's time to be outside! The weather has been just wonderful and I took every opportunity to enjoy it.

Today I created a birthday card which began with an ink blended background.

Papertrey Ink came out with a new product called Color Blocked Stencils which I explored for this card, sponging the triangle areas then stamping the chevron pattern over them in darker ink. It's a great way to pare down the layers on a card for mailing and was just plain fun!  Especially if you like ink blending as much as
 I do.
I paired it with some die cut flowers, a bold sentiment, and a few glittery  enamel dots.

That's all for me today, I have one more card to share with you tomorrow. Hope you are enjoying a wonderful day. Thanks for your visit!

Blended Ink Backgrounds

Hello crafting friends!

Is any one besides me having their days mixed up after our holiday on the 4th? Yesterday felt like Monday to me, my days are all off.  Feels like Tuesday today. Turns out any day is a good day to pop in with a project for Make It Monday!

Betsy's Make It Monday #327 is all about Ombre Watercolor Backgrounds. (see her video HERE sharing a fool proof and easy way to make blended backgrounds.)

I've got two cards for you today.

For the first, I blended shades of pink and then washed them with a damp thick brush. After it had dried I used the Stencil Basics: Dots to add tone on tone design.

My second card is clean and simple, using yellows for the background. I added tone on tone stamping with two or three leaf images, and spattered white paint to add texture and detail. Well. I did get a bit carried away with splattering the paint.

For the flowers on both cards, I used the 2108 Anniversary Set: Mixed Bouquet, trimming out the blooms with my scissors.

I will be uploading this soon. Wishing you a fabulous weekend!
