Double Embossed Background

Believe it or not, I'm still working from the ideas given on Day 1 of the Merry Making class! 
I am captivated by the techniques and I just have to give them at least one try so I'm back again to share with you.

For today's card, I used the double embossing technique. I embossed my white card panel in gold, and then embossed over it again using a background stamp. LOVE this vintage look for a classic holiday card. 

I embossed the sentiment in white on a die cut oval of vellum, and finished with the name Jesus die cut from gold foil card stock. A soft bow and a gold sequin complete the festive look. 

The sentiment and Jesus die are by Papertrey Ink . 
The background stamp is by MFT.

More Holiday Backgrounds

It's been a long time since I made three cards in one day . The inspiration and teaching at the Online Card Class  called Merry Making has been wonderful and I'm loving every minute. If you've never signed up for these classes offered by Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner you will find them to be excellent resources and loads of fun. 

I'm continuing with another background as shown in Day 1. This one is supposed to use cover plates, but this time I made my own by die cutting a trio of snowflakes from white card stock over and over again. I combined three shades of blue card stock for a bright background. 

Since my background is quite busy and I didn't want to cover it up, I kept the focal point small and simple.

Holiday Backgrounds - Cover Plate Dies

I'm back again with another card inspired by the lessons at MerryMaking. 

This time we were encouraged to combine a Cover Plate Die 
and a sponged background for an easy and quick card. 

I had the brand new unused Reverse Confetti Big Stripes Cover Die just waiting to add some pizzazz to today's card. 

I sponged Distress Inks for the background and added images from the Friends for all Seasons Winter stamps from W Plus9. Distress Markers and Wink of Stella provided the color and sparkle for these images.

I added stamped snowflakes to the balloon, and die cut flakes for embellishments.

Holiday Backgrounds BOKEH

Hi!
I hope you're doing well on this Monday afternoon. 
I woke up with a sense of anticipation as today is the beginning of the Online Card Class, Merry Making.  Couldn't wait to get a head start on my Christmas card making and have fun getting new ideas at the same time. 

The theme today is backgrounds. I tried out Kristina's excellent technique on this card. 

Most of my supplies will be listed below. I spattered my background with a few dots of white acrylic paint for added detail. To repeat the element of gold in the sentiment, I also used gold foil paper to die cut a classy bow tie for the deer.

CAS Floral with Adore You

Hello friends, I am glad to be sharing one more card with you. 

The Adore You set from Altenew came in my order this week, I fell in love with these bold florals and lovely sentiments.

The stripes in the images indicating shading add a graphic element that looks so elegant with the flowers. I colored them with Copic markers and fussy cut them out. 

Next I added a few dots with the white gel pen, and a few dots of Nuvo epoxy black glossy drops. 

I'm playing along with the new CAS(E) this Sketch! designed by Leigh Penner.

More Cards for Kids

Just popping in to share a card or two that I made this week to add to my bunch of Cards for Hospitalized Kids that I'll be mailing soon. 

I stumbled across some printed die cuts on my shelves and decided to put them to good use. So the cards are simple with the embellishments taking center stage. 

I made this one inspired by CAS(E) this Sketch. I added google eyes to the owl die cut and used Copics, colored pencils and a white gel pen to add highlights. 

These will be on their way soon and hopefully bring some smiles to those who receive them.

Shoot for the Stars MFT Sketch Challenge

Hi there, hope you're having a happy day! 

There's a bit of a story to tell involving this card. I started out wanting to use glitter. Scratch that, after two tries and glitter everywhere I decided I didn't have a tape strong enough to keep the glitter in the negative space of the die cut. Trashed that sample. 

Take two of the card was OK, and I'm happy to send it off to a child in the hospital but I knew I could create a better design. 

So I did. Completed the third card.  Sigh, I like when I am finally pleased and I brought the card to the kitchen so I could admire my work. I know we ALL do that sometimes! 

Next thing I know, she did it again. Apparently the card fell off the counter and Josie, who considers ANYTHING on the floor as dinner - ATE it. Yep, she first had fun ripping it apart. 

In case you've forgotten, Josie is our 7 year old beagle who we love dearly. Most of the time. Her nickname is the perpetual puppy. 

I re-made said card and while I took photos Josie looked on and I took a picture of her for you. 

Where is it you say?  I don't know. Seems as if this morning I can't locate my camera, so redid the photos with my phone. Still looking for my camera - do  you think Josie ate it? 

Without further ado, here's the card!

I used Distress Inks for the background in Broken China, Tumbled Glass, Blueprint Sketch, and Wilted Violet, blending them and splattering with drops of water and white ink.
I was inspired to play along with the 

Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 352 at MFT. 

 It seems the stamps and Blueprints Dies I used are retired. Since I can't find them online either. Hmmm, I'm seeing a pattern here.
