Color Hues #19 Blue and Brown

Hi friends! I'm happy to turn the page on the calendar. Welcome to a new month, a new color challenge and my blog! I hope things are going well with you.

Can I tell you that using only two colors is always a challenge for me? I want to pull out ALL the colors. I find that being challenged makes me think outside the box and create cards in different styes, which I think is tons of fun! I learn a lot this way.

For instance, I've learned that the capybara, which lives predominantly in South America is the largest living rodent in the world, weighing in at 77 - 150 pounds?  I've traveled to South America but never ran into one of these guys! I've also learned that they can look CUTE - on cards!

Here's my take on blue and brown for a simple gender neutral birthday card. I did some masking, coloring with Copics and fussy cutting this critter for the tag. For the card base,  I used a stencil to add a few polka dots with Distress Oxide Inks.

Blue and brown work well together, and I'm sure the rest of the team will amaze you with their creative samples. Check them out and join us at Color Hues!

I appreciate your visit today, thanks!

This is such a fun card. Capybaras were my daughters favourite animal and we always had to linger around their enclosure at the zoo, not that she remembers that now! I must agree that keeping to just two colours is sometimes a little hard but it stretches you to create as you say. :)

Oh this is so cute!! Great job just sticking to the two colors. I agree it is sometimes hard just using the two colors but fun just the same.

...Especially if the Capybara is wearing a hat! Love the tag, the greeting, and the soft polka dotted background. You rocked this color combo, Cindy!

I've never heard of a Capybara, but I've got to agree, he's a cutie on your card! I also agree that using only two colors ups my creativity. You nailed this one!

Two colors is definitely a challenge, but you always rise to it and do a fantastic job! The Capybara looks adorable on your card. He's a dashing fellow with his hat. Apparently Capybara are good natured in the wild and for some reason other animals are drawn to them. I can see why!
