A Sketch for the Paper Players

Hello friends! I'm back with a quick post today. I wanted to watercolor so I pulled out the images from this older set called "Just Breathe" from WPlus9. I love the image of the bird perched on the pretty peony that you see as my focal point. For this card, I created a background panel by randomly stamping only the flowers and leaves onto watercolor paper.

I stamped with Memento Toffee Crunch ink, and used Distress ink re-inkers to watercolor. I left this as a work in progress for a day or two. Then, inspired to join The Paper Players Sketch Challenge, I cut my panel in half and layered the focal image on the All-in-One Hexagon Die (Penny Black.)

Here's the sketch I followed. I really like the way cutting the panel worked out.
That's it for me today! Hope your day is going well.

Simple Joy

Hello, happy National Dog Day!  I didn't have a clue about that when I made this card featuring a super cute canine and a sentiment that I really like! Over the weekend I brought out a mixed bag of supplies and just played for fun.

Rummaging through my background stamps I found one from Tim Holtz that is all sentiments, many are out of the ordinary. It's called Tiny Texts and I thought this one was perfect for this image. Ignoring the cake or card that looks birthday-ish, I love that this pooch has prepared a perfect cup of tea and has flowers and fixings to enjoy his day.

Sipping my cup of tea is an ordinary joy that I savor every morning with thanks for a new day. I love the smile on this little guy. Wish I was so cute! (early in the morning...) The pup image is fussy cut from the Good Times set (Penny Black).

Paper scraps, enamel drops, and simple coloring with Zig markers.

Makes me happy today. What is your ordinary joy? Thank you for stopping by!

Colorful Combo for Autumn

Hello, how are things with you? Another rainy day had me wanting to stay cozy inside and so the stamps came out to play! Brand new leaf stamps arrived in my mailbox just in time to be inked up for the great color combo at The Paper Players.

Have a look!

I've long admired this set from Waffle Flower called Two Step Leaves Combo. Imagine my delight at winning a gift card to their store! Of course I added a few more supplies, ha! The Piercing Lines Texture Die also makes it's debut on today's card.

What I love about these leaf images is the detail created by the layering stamps, and the clean lines. Using mostly Distress inks to stamp resulted in a sketchy look for the leaves.  I had a hard time finding matches for the challenge colors, but I do like the result. The sentiment is from SSS and Gina K, as the Bold Summer Blooms set was still out from my recent session. Now I'm ready for one fall birthday in the family!

I appreciate your visit today. I'll be sharing over at the The Paper Players and  the NBUS challenge. Seems there is a steady stream of never-been-used-stuff available in my craft closet!

And one more. Tic Tac Toe challenge grid middle row asks for Any Color, FREE, and sentiment. I'm always inspired to play there, and I was happily a Designer's Pick!

Hope it's a great day for you!

Best Birthday with Bold Summer Blooms

Hello, glad to have this time with you! Simon Says Stamp teamed with Gina K in offering a set of stamps, dies, and stencils called Bold Summer Blooms that are new to me. Last weekend I created a bunch of modern floral stamped die cuts and today I'm featuring my own design using them. Super Fun!

The card front was trimmed to reveal the blue DSP on the inside. The Bold Summer Blooms Plate was used in part - the row of white flowers were an easy embellishment! I added metallic pearls to all the flower centers. I didn't plan it this way. It seems I cut the card front too high up. Attempting to better the proportions I added the strip of DSP with the text. Then came the flowers. All in all, it was a delightful crafting adventure.
I'm so glad you've come by today. I will be back soon although I've not any idea what stamping fancy will hit me next.  There's always something!

Challenges entered are NBUS, Simon Says Stamp Wednesday, JUGS - Flower dies, and The Flower Challenge - add embellishments.

Tweet-est Friend!

A new day and a new month and I am GLAD! Hopefully our high heat and stormy afternoons will give way to more pleasant weather soon.  In the meantime, while I had all the Tweet Friend supplies out, I gave it another go. Hope you enjoy my shaker card. You know I love them!

I love the versatility of the sentiments and being able to die cut them and mix the smaller phrases in is a plus. I think the mailbox will be what I grab for often, but the flowers are pretty in their own right and the bird bath is great for any season.

Copics were used for coloring and the stencil (Gina K Cropped Circles) was sponged over with Ranger inks on two corners. I'm happy these two feathered friends are having a bit of fun in the sun!

No challenges today, just a quick share! Thanks for coming by!
