Embossing Fun for a Sweet Birthday

Hello every one! I hope that your long weekend was fabulous. We had lots of rain and no plans but to relax a bit. For me that meant catching up on some photo edits and blog posts. Popping in for a quick share today of a sweet card for another granddaughter birthday.

Did you know that Jennifer and Kristina gave a new card class recently on Embossing folders? It was informative, and so fun to pull those folders out to play.

For this card, I used a 'diffuser' so that I could leave an area without embossing for my images. I've had it forever but never used it. The stamps are also new. These adorable bunnies are from Penny Black transparent set called "Cuteness."

After embossing the outer part of the panel, I stamped the focal point  in the off-center circle and colored with Copics very simply. Then, I used masking to ink the embossed part, using light blended strokes. I was going for a pastel look but got a bit too heavy handed in the top left corner. I know my sweetie will not mind. She's two!

I loved using this technique and will try it again soon as it makes it easy to dress up a one layer card.

Thanks for visiting, have a great day!

Live Life in Full Bloom

Hello crafty friends, I hope that your week has been going well and that you've been enjoying spring!

I recently found a card I made in early spring using watercolors, which is my favorite media. I find adding layers of color with a brush and re-inkers to be therapeutic. I think I may even have been sitting on our back porch when I colored this.

The stamp set is called Flutterby - although a very sweet image I chose to leave the butterfly off this time - by Penny Black. I stamped the tulips using Toffee Crunch Ink (Memento) and followed the package inspiration to color the florals using Distress ink re-inkers. I added several layers, letting them dry in between to create shading and dimension. With markers and a black pen I added details.

I adhered one of the Penny Black Background Basic stencils to mask the rectangle forming a frame. Sponging Toffee Ink lightly at the corners gave shape and added depth. The sentiment is also from Penny Black, from the Exuberance transparent set.

I have acquired quite a collection of PB stamps this year and I love them all! I still can't decide if the artsy, cute ones or basic CAS are more my style, but as you see more of them used we can figure this out!

I'm so glad that you are in my corner. Have a great day!

Color Hues #87 Coral and Teal

Oh, happy day! It's the middle of May!

Where did the time go, I wonder? I always say since living in North Carolina that spring is too short and summer is too long. I wish it was the other way around, lol!

But you're here for a card. First, the color combo coming from Julie P is Coral and Teal. Great colors for any season! Or theme. I went with florals.

I had a time picking the right shades, but went with Copics for coloring because they were labeled coral and teal. After finishing the beautiful bouquet of wildflowers (The Greetery) I glued three die cuts together for dimension and added strength.

I thought it needed a bit more so I added  DOX Tea Ink sponged with a mask to make the circle on the white panel. In real life it is a pale kraft color, but in the photo it shows up as a pale coral because of the warm tones. To the inner flower I added WInk of Stella for shine.

I'm sending you happy thoughts and good springy vibes today. Thanks so much for visiting!

The Flower Challenge #91 Reminder

Just a note to say hello, crafty friends, and a quick card post too!

It's mid-month and time to remind you of our invitation for you to join us at The Flower Challenge, and color your flowers this month using the medium of your choice.

I chose soft pastels and stencils for my card this time, keeping things very simple.

I really love the Altenew Craft Your Life Project Kit: Meadow Breeze. For my first time using it, I experimented with only two colors: pink and yellow and gray as the neutral. After stamping and coloring the line drawing, I die cut the whole grouping out using the one die they provide and masking paper. Using the die cut as a mask, I then inked the solid trailing vines stamp in pale gray ink.

After stamping the sentiment, sponging lightly with yellow ink in the top corner added balance and a soft effect.  I love how this turned out! I die cut the panel to be smaller than A2 size, and used a rectangle of fun foam to add dimension.

I hope you're having fun with this challenge and feeling inspired to join us! Our gallery is filling up with beautiful florals! Thanks for visiting with me today.

The Flower Challenge #91

Hi there, crafty friends!

Welcome to our new challenge where we ask you to color your flower or flowers on your card, using whatever medium you prefer.

It's an easy choice for me, you know that I love adding color to line art. This time I used my Zigs markers to color this pretty sunflower from Penny Black called Pure Sunshine.

I definitely went with the brights for these blooms, adding a scalloped- edged border.

The sentiment is also from Penny Black, the Delightful Day set. This is one sentiment that I'll be pulling out often.

I hope you will  check out the inspiration at the challenge blog, and play along with us this month! I'm so glad you've stopped by, make it a great day!

Color Hues Challenge #86

Here we go on this happy first day of May with a new challenge at Color Hues!  Our duo of Lilac and Lime comes from Julie, and we want you to play along with this sweet pairing.

I have a sweet little grand with a birthday coming up, so I came up with a card for her. She loves pandas!

I found this set from Altenew (Roaming Pandas) that's been around awhile. I thought it would make great guy cards. Instead, I loved putting a girly twist on it for her, have a look!

The Immense LOVE die from Penny Black makes a great spot for this big guy to sit. I rummaged through my stash to find a hat and also die cut a heart for the birthday theme.

Please be sure to check the inspiration found at the challenge blog. We'd love to have you play along! Thanks for taking the time to visit me today. I always appreciate you stopping by.
