A Simple Sketch - Times 2

Hello there!
My stamping has been a bit hit or miss this fall, but somehow I got on a roll. Here's the first post to share with you!

I used to have a category on my blog called Twice is Nice. If I found a sketch I really like it was fun to make two completely different cards with it. That's what happened with me while crafting. I couldn't stop after one card and had to make a second.

Let me show you the sketch first, from the great designers at CAS(E) This Sketch.

I began with wanting to place the sentiment in the sketch and then added the leaves around that to form rows. Although it is a bit busy, I like how this card turned out.

For the second card, I went looking for a smaller image and pulled out the Whole Lotta Happy set from W Plus 9. This card is still also a bit busy, but the uniformity of the images gives it a more cohesive look. I like it so much better than the first card.

These images are so cute and I thought they'd be perfect for a rainbow themed card. You know they've been the rage for so long but until now I hadn't made one! What fun!

Here's where the rainbow comes in, on the inside -

This will be a congrats card for someone we love so much! The photo makes it look wonky but I promise that the image and sentiment dies are straight. Both cards give me a sense of delight in using stamps and dies that have been long lost in my stash. It is invigorating to re-discover them. The sketch inspired me to seek them out. Another reason I love sketches.

Thanks for visiting today! It has been raining here, but I keep looking for the rainbow from my warm cozy spot.

What I love Wednesday: Watercolor

Hello! Happy Wednesday to you.

Welcome to my Wednesday blog feature where I get to use something I love, do something I love or share something elegant with you.

I've been happy as a clam getting to do what I love - watercoloring! Today I'm happy to share the Bouquet: Ranunculus stamp set
from W PLUS 9. I love butterflies and gold too.

The wonderful thing about this stamp set is that the flowers have already been arranged for you. They're not too large so they can be stamped more than once on your card front, allowing for different arrangements.

I embossed them in white and colored them with Distress Inks on Ranger Distress Watercolor Paper. I added some shading and a bit of ink spatters to complete the design. I've had this set for way too long and what I love about the blog itinerary is that I set aside time to color it for today's post. And watercoloring to me, is the most restful thing to do! This was my third take on it--Just so you know.

My only embellishment was a butterfly embossed onto vellum, and the sentiment die cut out of Gold Foil card stock.

In case you didn't notice - NO SEQUINS!  Although I did pull them out and decided to let the florals shine. Alone.

The Hand-Lettered Hello set has smaller sentiments that I can add on a thin banner under the Hello when I decide who will be receiving this card.

Thanks as aways, for stopping by. Your kind comments make my day!

More Spring Flowers and Happy Wishes

Hello, and happy Sunday!

We love to go to the beach in the off season, so a couple weeks ago when we had a few warmer days, my dearest and I had a lovely mini vacay at the ocean. I took along images to color. As my husband says, I wouldn't want to have symptoms of hobby withdrawal while we were gone, ha ha!

These bright and sunny flowers have been on my desk ever since, reminding me that warmth and sunshine will be returning. Soon, I hope!  They are from the Simon Says Stamp More Spring Flowers set.

In the meantime, I made them into a card. Which is, after all the point of this post.

I began by blending inks onto a panel of Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper using Distress Oxides in Worn Lipstick and Vintage Linen. I added a touch of Scattered Straw also splattering droplets of plain water and pink ink onto the background. The images were embossed with white onto watercolor paper, and were colored in using various inks from WPlus 9 who also provided the sentiment and Happy Wishes Die.

I really like this sentiment because I can later customize it for a specific occasion when I need to mail it.

Thanks for coming by to visit today!
