Sunshine and Rainbows

The challenge at The Paper Players is Sunshine and Rainbows. I love that theme! 

I rummaged through my stash and pulled out the perfect frame die. It's retired, I've had it for years! 
I'm really making a point of using a mix of old and new supplies. The frame die includes the hello (positive) and  sunshine (negative.) 
A sheet from JJ Bolton's Rainbow Pad Sampler (Waffle Flower Crafts) provides a colorful backdrop and the stripes in the inlaid word.
All that was left was figuring out what to put inside the frame. I stamped the elephant, and using masking, I created the sky background with Distress Inks. 
I sure hope this card brightens your day!

Stitch Wish

I hope I got your interest with my title. I used to love sewing and even gave quilting a try, including collecting and hoarding fabrics. Until my love for card making took over all my crafty loves! 

When I went looking for a set to use for this challenge the quilt stamp gave me just the shape I needed and I dug out some retired papers to use with it. Voila! Choose, cut and paste and done. Imagine that!

I love playing along with Freshly Made Sketches and I thought Karren's sketch this time was classic all the way!

Special Day Fresh Floral

Hi crafty friends! I am writing again on a Friday and you know it actually feels like a Friday because I went on some very pleasant errands today. Out to lunch (GASP! a meal that I didn't cook eaten somewhere other than my kitchen!) and to one store as our state opened last week. I was surprised pleasantly by the changes to make things safer and the whole outing was a delight! 

I will now quit chatting and get on with the card I made this morning.

I loved stamping up floral images with the Print Shop: Fresh Floral stamps and dies from The Greetery. Betsy had a great sale for her ONE year anniversary and I went back and bought a few go-withs. Add-ons. The things I didn't THINK I needed the first time they were released! But I did need them, ha! Does that ever happen to you?

My card is clean and simple in sorbet colors. I added a window behind the flowers. Again I was inspired by CAS(E) This Sketch 

although I just now realize that my sentiment is placed differently. 

I will call it good and wish you a great weekend!

Bouquet Builder Birthday

I'm writing this at the end of a lovely June day filled with activities and beautiful weather! I had the right amount of energy for getting some chores and errands done, spending lots of time outside and getting in an hour of stamping before dinner. 

Here's what I made! 

I loved coloring those pretty images with Copics and arranging them around the large sentiment. It was stamped in two layers to give detail, and I added a layer of glitter on the shaded area. 
I'm playing along with The Paper Players and Jaydee's Tic Tac Toe which gives some great options.

 I chose the diagonal row of flowers die-cut and embossing. But it also fits with flowers girly and birthday on the top line.

Life Has Been RUFF

Hi there! 

I am a dog lover and I know many of you are as well. I had a great escape this week to my nearby crafts box store. What I liked best about the excursion was getting to meet, Bonnie, a delightful therapy dog. Her owner said their outing to the store was the first time out in months for the pretty canine who really needed to socialize. How well I could relate to that statement and my new furry friend. 

You can only imagine how much I enjoyed coloring this doggy lineup and setting them into a simple scene. I did some masking with the stamped images to rearrange the pack, fussy cut then colored using Copics. The sky and grass were ink blended with Distress Oxide inks. ( Tumbled Glass, Cracked Pistachio and Lucky Clover.) 

It felt good to make this card for a friend that has been going through the mill with health issues. The dog images are from Puppy Power (Waffle Flower Crafts) and the sentiments from Friends FURever (Honeybee Stamps.) I know I will get lots of use from these sets. The sentiment continues inside with "No bones about it... You are PAWsome!"

I am playing with Freshly Made Challenges who inspired me with this sketch this week.

I thought the differing heights of the pooches mimicked the vertical lines. A little bit.

Soft Pastels

Hello, I'm back again with another take on the monoprint technique that I shared on an earlier post. Without sharing details of this fabulous class from Spring Card Camp, I wanted you to be able to see both parts of the process on today's card. 

I used soft pastel shades of ink for the pretty leafy background. The small panel is a piece of the monoprint that I removed the inking from to reveal the whitened spaces. I love the depth and color variations that this gives. 

I just love playing with inks! I still have several samples of this all over my messy desk. I am keeping this post short in hopes of getting it all cleaned up. I feel a need to jump in to a card challenge or two before the week is out!

Hello crafty friends! 
If you think I've not been stamping much this past week, you may be right! Every once in awhile a break seems a good idea. Hopefully I come back to my blog with renewed freshness. Honestly, it's been rainy here for a L-O-N-G couple of weeks and I've been curling up with a good book or two. 

Although Spring Card Camp 2 is officially over, I got totally into the lesson by Dawn on mono-printing. It's addicting, as she said, and I've completed quite a few takes on the technique, just haven't made them into cards yet. Here's my first.

 It involves laying out multiple colors on the plate and picking them up with a clean stamp. When you stamp these images they take on a dreamy watercolor look. I love techniques like this because you're never quite sure what look your inking and color choices will give. It's a pleasant surprise! 

Keeping my focal point small so I didn't cover up the background, I added a delicate flower with sparkling embossing and a few pearls.
